CAVES IN POKHARA:

1. GUPTESHWOR CAVE : (Opening Hours: 6am-6pm)

         Nearby, across the street is a Gupteshwor cave. This cave holds special value for Hindus since a large stalagmite is worshiped as the phallic symbol of Loard Shiva. During Some festivals, pilgrims flock to the cave. You can pay extra to pass through a small tunnel at the rear of the shrine(holy place/memorial), emerging into a damp cave directly behind Devi’s Falls. The cave floods during the monsoon and cannot be accessed.  



2. MAHENDRA  CAVE : (Opening Hours: 7am-6pm)
           
            Amore exciting series of caves are located at the opposite end of the city in Batulechaur, Mahendra Gufa was the first cave to be discovered in the region and contains many Stalagmites,  Which are worshiped as Shiva Lingams. Another nearby cave, locally called ChameroGufa (Bat’s Cave) is a large limestone cave packed with thousands of Horse hoe Bats. Betulechaur is also known for the musicians Caste of The Gaine.
