ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES IN POKHARA

There were so many options of activities and things to do or see in Pokhara – from paragliding and boating, to hiking, trekking or white water rafting. We weren’t really there long enough to do any proper trekking, plus I think it would have been hard work in the height of the monsoon summer, so we dismissed that option. As well as a rich local culture and many spectacular trekking routes, Pokhara is an Ideal destination for outdoor adventure lovers.

1. PARAGLIDING:

Pokhara has developed over the years into a world renowned Pargliding location, and is a perfect place for beginners and professionals alike. January is the best time to Paraglide, as the perfect flying conditions and stunning mountain views will make it an unforgettable experience. There are a multitude of different flights .that you can do, from single 40minute ones to a multiday cross-country expedition that explores the valleys beneath the Annapurna massif. The majority of flights start from the dramatic peak of Sarangkot, just north of Pokhara.
For professional Paragliders, there is also the opportunity to try the newly developed sport of Parahawking, Parahawking involves the use of Eagles and Pariah Kites as guides to the best thermals(Rising currents of warm air) and allows for much longer and more interesting flights.

2. SKY TOUR (GLIDING):

Ultra light flight is most important attraction in Pokhara. These micro-flights are few of the most attracting activities.  Gliding can fly to an altitude of 5000 meters. Avia Club Nepal conducts such flights. Power gliding one engine glider provides a bird’s eye view of exotic valley Pokhara and the white (snow) mountains range of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. The flights varied in time and in cost respectively. This is thrilling experience in itself. Beside this in recent times paragliding has also become an added adventure. A thirty minutes paragliding is very wonderful trip. Many tourists can be seen flying over Sarangkot.
